Mike Ford, a Toronto surfer and photographer, decided to create a short video edit about being a “lake surfers” in Toronto. More often then you think, Lake Ontario is providing waves to the local rippers. Peeps over there are getting better and better at figuring out where the perfect lake waves will hit in this huge unsalted water pond by reading the wind conditions and making their own forecast. It's very interesting to see how much surfing in TO has been growing in the past three years! Local knowledge is the key here to score a session.
Enjoy the interviews!
From Mike Ford website:
"This is a series of Great Lake Surfers. Unsalted and ready when the right wind blows. These brave men, women and grommets face ice cold water, snow and gale force winds all for the sake of that sweet, sweet ride. I had the pleasure of photographing them in the safety and warmth of my studio in November 2011. My thanks and respect go out to all those who participated and who continue to dip their toes in the dicey waters of our Great Lakes. Surfs up.
