For 10 years of my life i can say i honestly was a Nomad. Living from Canada to Mexico in my van packed with the essentials. A dozen surfboards, two cats and an adventurous spirit. This video project and life decision by Raúl is inspiring to say the least.
Nómad-A is the story of an Ecuadorian boy, who made the decision to abandon his home country to chase his dreams, Peter-pan-style. Whilst on the road, he has met thousands of individuals, many of whom made deep impressions shaping his journey and who he was to become. Strangers soon became friends, not only offering a couch and a home cooked meal, but also providing moral support and inspiration, giving Raul the fuel and encouragement to continue his non- stop migration.
Incredible event and opportunity coming to the Toronto area.
Aloha Toronto will host legendary longboard surfer Izzy Paskowitz, big wave surfer Garrett McNamara and the original six Hawaiians that kick-started Surfers Healing over a decade ago.
The full day FREE event will include an elite, celebrity and leisure Stand Up Paddle (SUP) challenge, Surfers Healing Camp benefitting autism.
Just the other day i was watching the new'ish body surfing video by Kieth Malloy ,"come hell or high water" and about half way into it there is a section with Beau, a child with autism and his father. Beau tells the story of them going for a swim at Makapo beach, in Hawaii. The images that follow are so emotional, complete bliss. Bo is the most happy human i have ever seen when he is swimming in the waves. Blowing bubbles and looking at them while under water. Swimming under the waves with a huge smile, riding waves on his dad shoulders. The ocean and "water" in general has amazing healing properties both metal and fiscal. This event is great and a must attend if you are in the Toronto area.
Experience pure ‘Aloha’ at Woodbine Beach, Toronto!
On August 27, 2011, the Billabong Pro Tahiti event on surfing's World Tour was placed on hold due to a massive swell bearing down on the famed big-wave spot, Teahupoo. With forecasts calling for unprecedented surf, some of the greatest surfers in the world descended on the island to be in the water, despite a "Code Red" called by the Tahitian Coast Guard, which sought to keep everyone on shore. See the historic day through the eyes of two surfers -- the young gun Laurie Towner and the veteran Dylan Longbottom -- as they catch some of the biggest, most dangerous surf ever recorded, much of it captured with the super slow motion Phantom Camera for never-before-seen imagery.
